    Default Ultra Wormhole RP: Mistral

    NBP #1
    Ranger San Sū-kagetsu

    The forest outside Engima Ruins had also stood the test of time that the ruins weathered, as if in a constant dance to see which could outlast the other. For three months, even through the constant stream of trams after the discovery of the Ultra Wormholes, the forest remained relatively untouched, the adventurers arriving on the locomotives more interested in the ruins and the treasures lying within.

    Until today.

    With a shout and a crash, San found himself plowing through the brush from above. He was sure that it would look comical from any other vantage; a small boy being dropped into the trees by a laughing god Pokemon. When San had said "Here's good, you can drop me here Gamma," he really hadn't meant it so literally. And now, though he was sure to remain wide awake for the remainder of this excursion, his backside was sure to remain sore as well.

    Brushing off the various foliage that had stuck to him after his descent, San let loose a Poke Ball on his belt; a flash of red, and a bright tuft of yellow was left in its place. Bristles of fur charged with static electricity surrounded powerful kicking legs and a slight form; Connie the Jolteon delightedly stretching her body and claws and shaking off sleep as she took in the forest. San usually liked to have at least one of his companions out to impress his charges; he'd heard that he should "watch out for the spikes" for the newcomer, and so figured Connie, named after the spines of the conifers that surrounded other areas of the park, would maybe fit that criteria. San really relied on these first impressions; he wasn't exactly an expert, and it showed, though he was confident enough in himself even without Gamma around.

    He began walking towards the edge of the forest, hoping that his soon to be companion hadn't seen his less than graceful dropoff, and hoping she hadn't been waiting for him. San hated to be late.

    @weirlind120;

    Audrey traveled to the National Park today for today was the day on which she could finally go on her expedition to the Ultra Wormhole she'd heard so much about. There was a bit of a struggle with Rangers that caused her to have to wait for so long, but now she was here and ready to go on her run. Patience truly did pay off, and hopefully it would pay off well if she encountered a rare Pokemon to add to her collection of Pokemon.

    She was told upon arrival that her Ranger would meet her at the entrance to the Enigma Ruins, so after asking for directions, Audrey made her way to the Enigma Ruins, drawstring backpack bouncing on her back with each step she took. There was a forest she had to walk through, and she was glad she made the choice to wear jeans, a black long sleeve shirt, and blue sneakers today. Flip flops, her typical go to on nice days, were not the ideal shoes for forest walking.

    Upon arrival to the Enigma Ruins, she took a look around, peering through the gate that blocked her access into the abandoned ruins. If her Ranger was here, he or she hadn't made theirself visible yet. A crash behind her made her jump, and she spun around, hand on one of the two Poke Balls that were on her belt. Her eyes scanned the area. Nothing. No one was there. She relaxed a little bit, but she kept a hand near her Poke Balls in case she needed one of the two Pokemon she brought with her on this Ultra Wormhole expedition.

    When she saw someone walk through the edge of the forest towards her, she relaxed completely. A trainer and his Jolteon emerged from the trees. Whoever it was would likely have no harm towards her. "Are you my Ranger?" she asked. The Ranger Outpost she came from didn't tell her who her Ranger was or what he or she would look like, only that they would meet her here at the gates to the Enigma Ruins. This guy and his Jolteon were the only people to come by in the brief time she'd been here. Logically, it made sense that he would be her Ranger, but as she'd learned, this world didn't always follow what made logical sense, and so she felt it would be safer to ask than to just assume.

    NBP #2
    Ranger San Sū-kagetsu

    Exiting the brush, San was greeted by the voice of a young woman. She didn't look much older than him, and she looked prepared for a journey. The two Pokeballs on her belt meant she was a Trainer, and the nonchalant way she inquired whether or not he was her Ranger gave San the small hope that she hadn't heard or seen him falling through the canopy. "If you're Audrey, then yes I am. Pardon me looking more like forest than human," San said as he continued to brush off leaves and debris. "My name's San, if they hadn't given it to you. Pleasure to meetcha. And this here is Connie, she'll be helping us out on our journey through the wormhole." Connie beamed at being mentioned, always ready for praise or acknowledgement of any kind.

    Looking away from Connie, though, San was impressed with the readiness of the Trainer he'd be taking today. The runs through the wormhole were typically flooded with hyper, overeager Trainers, and he was glad to see a calmer Trainer willing to wait for him, and obviously carrying all the things she'd need for the run. Her attire was also easily identifiable, so he wouldn't be afraid of losing her while inside the portal.

    "Well, if you're all set then, are you ready to make our way down there? Only about two thirds of the portals are open today, so you'll have a bit of a more limited choice, but we can start whenever you're ready. Also, I'd recommend bringing out a Pokemon if they're docile enough to walk with us; being prepared in advance is always better than after you need it!" San said, though realistically he wanted to know what his new companion's Pokemon were like; the "Spikes" bit didn't make sense yet, and his curiosity was infinitely piqued.

    @weirlind120;

    Jackpot. This guy was her Ranger. "Yep, I'm Audrey. Pleasure to meetcha." Alongside him was a Jolteon, nicknamed Connie, and she seemed like a jolly little Electric type. She was excited to be acknowledged by her trainer, that was for sure.

    There was a little bit of disappointment in learning that only two-thirds of the portals were open today, though she wasn't too surprised to hear this. Rumor had it that all of the portals weren't always open. It was hit or miss if they were or not. They were like the weather: unpredictable. He recommended bringing out a Pokemon in case they needed it, but Audrey only shrugged. "I think I'll pass on that for the time being, but thanks. We can get going though."

    With only two Pokemon with her today, Spiny and Khonsu, she wanted to allow them to rest as much as possible before they had to exert any energy. Walking wasn't a particularly difficult task, Audrey did it daily and it didn't wear her out unless she did a lot of it, but the Pokemon here were stronger than usual, or so she'd heard. She had a single Energy Powder Plus with her, and both Spiny and Khonsu had the ability to heal themselves if it came down to it. It wasn't worth the risk though to allow them to exert any energy, little as it may have been, before it was necessary. Though it was better to be prepared in advance than when she needed it, at least in San's eyes, Audrey also figured it would be better to play it safe rather than sorry until she knew what she was up against.

    Ranger San Sū-kagetsu and Connie

    Audrey seemed adamant about not bringing out a Pokemon, so San shrugged; he knew he'd see them soon enough anyways, and with Connie around he didn't feel as if they were truly vulnerable. Motioning her forward, San said, "Alrighty then, but don't hesitate to throw them out when we get into one of the portals. We never really know what's going to be waiting for us on the other side." A small trek to the ruins, and a short staircase would bring them to the openings for the portals, and he wanted to make it there before what looked to be a small thunderstorm, so off they went.

    The journey wasn't too long, but the tension was palpable. Connie was delighted about the rain and the incoming thunder, and San was sad he would soon have to take her away from it, but Rangering duties always came first. As they got closer, the soft glows of the colored portals became more clear, and San could see the hues well before the actual portals came into view. The staircase had been used recently; more than likely another group led by one of his fellow Rangers had just gone inside.

    Shades of green, with staticky yellow and translucent white were the first portals San and Audrey saw, followed quickly by the dark purple and faded pink, as the portals displayed their readiness. The other three were darkened and shut, barring entry from Pokemon and Trainer alike. San backed up a bit, allowing Audrey to get full view of them in their small room in the ruins, before saying, "Well, Audrey, here we are. You can take your time choosing, but be aware that once we go in, there will be at least a Pokemon waiting for us, so make sure you're ready before deciding."

    @weirlind120;

    Audrey nodded at San's warning about the dangers of the portals. Her Pokemon were ready to fight in the event they needed to, but there was no sense in having them exert energy unnecessarily. If she ever felt uncomfortable, especially when entering the portals, she would release one, but for the time being, she'd let them rest. The more rest they got, the better.

    As they traveled through the ruins, escaping an impeding thunderstorm, Audrey could see the colors of the portals before they even arrived. They were dim, but visible nevertheless. No one color was distinct before they approached the room, but as soon as they were inside the portal room, two shades of green, dark green and light green, yellow, and white made their appearances known. They were followed by a purple and pink portal. No other portals beckoned her to enter them. She scanned the six portals before her, but only the yellow gave any indication of what waited beyond it. The sparks that flew from it signaled Electric type Pokemon, or at least Pokemon that would thrive in that sort of environment. But what sorts of Pokemon did the other portals hold for her?

    Audrey approached the one on the farthest left first, the dark green one. She didn't walk through, but she only stood close enough to it to get a whiff of a woodsy smell from it, maybe with a hint of rain mixed with nature in there. Easy to figure that one out, it would be a woodland environment with all sorts of Bug and Poison types waiting for her to come in. There was a light green one next to it that had the distinct scent of fresh flowers, and Audrey knew that would take her to a garden. Her nose wrinkled as she stepped past that one and beyond the static yellow one, taking extra caution to avoid the sparks flying from it, to go stand near the white one. As soon as she was close enough, she shivered; frigid air flowed through this portal, and Audrey kept walking to get away from it. She couldn't really gather what was beyond the purple or pink portals. Nothing really stood out about them, unfortunately, and she couldn't put the pieces together of what sorts of Pokemon would thrive in the environments beyond those portals.

    Audrey moved back to stand next to San, her eyes scanning the portals once again. She had to consider the Pokemon she had with her: a Cacturne and an Umbreon. The white portal would likely lead her to an icy environment where Ice type Pokemon thrived; Spiny wouldn't fare well there, but Khonsu would have a chance. The dark green portal was far too risky given the two Pokemon she had with her; Bug types would likely make quick work of her two Pokemon, so that portal was no longer an option.

    The light green, yellow, purple, and pink portals would be her best options for the time being. The white portal was still an option, but given the risk it posed to Spiny, she figured it would be best to save that one for later. There were five Pokemon she was to encounter on this expedition, she didn't want to take on unnecessary losses this early.

    'Take the pink portal,' a voice in the back of her mind told her. She looked at it for a moment; pink could mean Psychic types, and Spiny and Khonsu would have a great advantage over those type of Pokemon. Audrey nodded to the pink portal. "I think we'll go through that pink one first."

    Ranger San Sū-kagetsu and Connie

    Audrey contemplated her options for a good few minutes; San again enjoyed that she was being cautious, and weighing her options, as these would be good traits to have when they encountered some of the more dangerous Pokemon in the wormholes. Eventually, Audrey declared she wanted to go through the pink portal. San had never been inside one of the pink ones before, so this would be a new experience for both of them. He decided to take the lead through, saying "Well all right then, follow me and Connie, and be ready once we get through!" as he hopped into the portal.

    San immediately regretted his entire life. The first, and most obvious, thing he felt was that it was insanely hot. Secondly, he immediately got a headache from whatever psychic force was at work here. He noticed Audrey feeling it as well, and so he called for her to take cover in one of the shady parts just ahead. It wouldn't help with the headache he was sure both of them had gotten, but it would at least help the sweltering heat.

    Once they were there, San started looking for the source. This wormhole bore a striking resemblance to a Psychic area of the park, and he'd had the same headache there, so that wasn't too bad, but it was definitely more intense, and the sun hadn't been this bad either. Connie suddenly started barking, having found something, and San and Audrey watched as the rock, emitting heat and psychic energy, started floating above Connie. It was in the shape of one of those comic suns, and San knew that if they were to make it back to the portal they had to stop this large output of energy. "Alright, Audrey, you're up. I don't think its seen us yet, just Connie, So you have that advantage at the least." And now, while waiting for Audrey, San would try and not pass out from heat stroke.

    @weirlind120;

    They jumped through the portal, and as soon as they did, she felt a sharp pain shoot through her head. She closed her eyes for a moment and just tried to relax, but the unbearable heat made that much more difficult. Audrey heard her Ranger calling for her to come join him in the shade, and she followed. The sharp pain was gone now, but she still felt a headache that she wished wasn't there. At least it was cooler under the shade.

    San's Jolteon started to bark, and the large, rock sun creature started to hover over her. Was that the cause of the heat or the headache? Audrey couldn't tell, to be honest. By the looks of it and according to San, the Solrock hadn't noticed the humans yet, only the Jolteon. She had an advantage there, but did she want this Solrock?

    There were five encounters she was meant to see on this expedition through the wormholes. Solrock was her first. Though she got five encounters, she only had 4 balls with her, two Super Balls and two Hyper Balls, among other items she opted to bring with her on the expedition. Could she risk a ball against this Solrock? Capture meant she wouldn't get the ball back if she didn't take it with her, and she was only able to bring one Pokemon home with her today. If she didn't capture Solrock now though and found nothing else she was interested in, she'd go home with nothing, and that would disappoint her.

    On the plus side, Spiny and Khonsu would fare well against the Solrock, Spiny moreso than Khonsu. Audrey liked Psychic types too, and Solrock was indeed a Psychic type and a Rock type all in one. It would be like two birds with one stone. And they had the advantage, so whichever Pokemon she did send would get a hit or two in before the Solrock could really react.

    She reached for a Poke Ball and released the Cacturne inside. It was the first encounter, but it didn't sound like an awful idea to catch the Solrock. She wanted one, and if she encountered something better or something she wanted more, she could always get a Solrock another way. If she didn't find anything else, she'd have another Pokemon that she wanted. She spoke quietly enough so that the Solrock wouldn't hear them, but loudly enough to where Cacturne could hear her. "Okay, Spiny, let's start with a Leech Seed on the Solrock, and be careful not to get it on the Jolteon because she's a friend. The Solrock is what we're looking to capture here today, but I don't want you to get too hurt since we're only on our first encounter of this expedition. After that, use Sucker Punch since it's still off guard and we want to take advantage of the surprise."

    Ranger San Sū-kagetsu and Connie

    For what it was worth, Connie was a great distraction, and she knew it. She barked and pulled the Solrock's attention directly away from the party, knowing full well that she wouldn't have to do anything more; it was the Trainer's responsibility to take on the Pokemon. San watched Audrey take full advantage of that distraction as she retracted a pokeball and released the Pokemon inside as quietly as she could. And in that instant, San got the spike joke. Spiny the Cacturne came out ready to heed Audrey's commands, with long draping arms and needles ready to shoot out at any moment. The bright green cactus looked at home in both the hot sun and the psychic field, and San suspected that might have something to do with Cacturne's Dark typing; it was probably just completely negating its effects for itself.

    Audrey gave some safe commands; seed the Solrock to hamper its movement, and then take advantage of the confusion to get close and personal. Spiny was able to get into position for the attacks rather quickly, moving stealthily like it was the most natural thing in the world and getting to a good vantage. Pointing its hulking appendages out, Spiny fired off 3 seeds with a small popping noise, in an arc towards Solrock. It hadn't noticed over the barking, and as they shot off towards the floating sun, Spiny leapt off the vantage towards it as well.

    Solrock didn't even see it coming. The seeds hit as Spiny crashed into it, and the force of the cactus slamming into it. Weirdly enough, it didn't seem to mind. The Solrock hadn't really had any interest in Jolteon either, it seemed; it was just annoyed that it had been woken up. Now, though it at least noticed the duo there, which was a start. After the full force of the Sucker Punch, Solrock was feeling weak; and so, it channelled the power of the sun. The air grew hotter as Solrock claimed the energy from the sunlight all around it, though even this energy couldn't help with the seeds slowly draining Solrock. It didn't much care, however, as it continued to focus and stay calm, and waited to see if it could go back to sleep...

    @weirlind120;

    Well, that was frustrating. While the Solrock was seeded and took some damage, it healed everything back up. Ashleigh frowned. Not a very productive round in her eyes, but she supposed it didn't matter. There was time. This was only the first encounter, and there was more than enough time for her to get through this and her next four encounters.

    Spiny was standing strong, but with Solrock focusing its energy into special attacks, Spiny would have to focus primarily on using physical attacks. "Spiny, let's go ahead and use Swords Dance! Get that attack up!"

    Spiny hopped from one foot to the next as swords appeared around his body, slowly spinning around and picking up their pace until they were no longer able to be seen, eventually disappearing completely. There was a quick, but faint, glow around his body as he embraced the strength he just received.

    Ashleigh noticed that the Solrock was looking to sleep. There was a brief moment in which she thought it might be a good idea for her to put the sun-like Pokemon to sleep and allow Spiny to just whack at it for a moment, but odds were it would most likely wake up and that would be counter productive to her plan.

    So keeping it awake and whacking at it that way was the best way to go for the time being.

    "Okay, Spiny, use Bullet Seed and turn that into a Seed Bomb!" Ashleigh said. "And while the smoke clears from your Seed Bomb, sneak in and whack it with another Sucker Punch!"

    And as he was commanded, he launched several streams of seeds from his mouth, stopping only to gather up the seeds from somewhere in his body. Those seeds exploded on contact, whether it be with the Solrock itself or the ground. Smoke, dust, and dirt filled the air as the seeds exploded, and as soon as Spiny launched the last line of seeds and they exploded, he snuck in to throw another Sucker Punch at the Solrock.

    Hopefully this time, it wouldn't heal off all of the damage that was done to it.
